Overview

Verihood helps you check real-estate agencies, hospitals and hair salons across Seoul through reviews verified by foreigners themselves and public-registry badges. This policy explains what information we handle and how.

Information we collect

· Account: your email address, nickname, and sign-in method (Google or email) · Your IP address at sign-up, used only as a signal to prevent reward fraud · Your device language setting at sign-in and the language you use the app in (Korean or English), used to send notifications and emails in that language and for usage statistics · Reviews: rating, checklist answers, the month you visited, free text, and attached photos · Business submissions · Questions to a place (including places not listed on Verihood that we ask for you): your question, the place you picked (the name, address, phone number and type of business from the search), the email address for the answer (your account email if you’re logged in), the link to your account if you sent it while logged in, and any emails we exchange with you about it. We use the link to your account to show your questions and answers in My page and to count how many questions you send per day. If a question to a clinic or pharmacy includes health details, we ask for your separate consent and use them only to pass the question to that place. For questions to places listed on Verihood, we store the IP address you sent it from only as a value mixed with the date, used to limit how many questions can be sent per day · Emails you send to help@verihood.co: your address and name, the subject and message, and the names, sizes and types of any attachments. We do not store the attached files themselves; Resend, which receives our email, keeps them for 30 days · Photos: we strip EXIF metadata (capture location, time, and device) before storing them publicly. If location coordinates are present, we separate them and keep them where only administrators can access them, used solely to detect fake reviews

How we use it

To operate the service, review submissions and reviews, prevent abuse and reward fraud, pass your questions to a place (including places not listed on Verihood) and email you the answer, consider adding places people ask about to our list, reply to emails you send to help@verihood.co, and send service emails such as sign-up confirmation and password reset.

What is public

Your nickname and review content are visible to everyone. Visit dates are shown only down to the month, never the exact day. We do not reveal who submitted a business. When you ask a place a question, we pass only the question to that place and never share your email address with it.

Processors we work with

We use the following providers to run the service: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), Resend (sending and receiving email), Google (Google sign-in and translating reviews and questions), Kakao (maps and place search), NAVER Cloud (place search, for places Kakao doesn’t find), and GitHub (encrypted database backups). For place search, we send only the words you type. We do not sell your personal information.

Cookies and device storage

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and a cookie for your language preference. Some settings, such as whether you dismissed the install banner, are kept only on your device (localStorage) and never sent to our servers.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account anytime from your profile. When you do, your account information is anonymized and shown as “Deleted user,” and reviews you already wrote may remain in anonymized form. To recover from outages, we back up the database every day in encrypted form, keep each backup for 30 days, and then delete it automatically. Your previous information may therefore remain in backups for up to 30 days after you delete your account. Questions to places (the question, your email address, and the emails we exchange about it) are deleted six months after we receive them. Emails you send to help@verihood.co and our replies are also deleted six months after we receive them.

Your rights

Under Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information. You can delete your account and reviews yourself from your profile.

Children

This service is not directed to children under 14.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, and we will announce material changes within the service.
