How do people meet others and make friends in Korea?
Regular group activities work best: classes, volunteering, and the exchange programs that public centers for foreign residents run. What to do 1. Browse public centers' programs. Seoul's foreign resident portal lists programs by category, including Exchange, Volunteer and Korean Language. Gangnam Global Village Center, for example, runs Korean conversation groups for Koreans and foreign residents, walking events and cultural festivals. 2. Take a Korean class. KIIP and center classes meet regularly. 3. Volunteer. Sign up on the 1365 Volunteer Portal and search for activities; Seoul notes volunteering is a way to meet new people. 4. Ask your district office (구청) or community service center (주민센터) about local classes and programs. Good to know • Marriage immigrants and multicultural families can call the Danuri Helpline (1577-1366) for information on life in Korea. • When meeting someone from online for the first time, choose a public place and don't share your alien registration card, passport or bank details. • Posts looking for friends, meetups or dating aren't allowed in the Verihood community, but you're welcome to ask where to find activities.
