Which visa lets me stay in Korea long term, and where can I ask?
There is no single long-term visa. Your status of stay (체류자격) follows what you do here (study, work, family or Korean heritage), and many people change status over time. For your own case, ask 1345. What to do 1. Check your stay period on your ARC or with HiKorea's expiry date check (not the visa sticker) and apply for any extension before it ends. 2. Look up the route for your purpose in the Ministry of Justice Visa Navigator or on HiKorea. Common examples: study (D-2) → job seeking (D-10) → a job in an eligible occupation (E-7); marriage to a Korean national (F-6); Korean heritage (F-4). 3. Before you start a different kind of activity, such as a new type of job, get a change of status approved. 4. Call 1345 with your details. Good to know • You can't work on a status that doesn't allow it, such as tourism (C-3). • Residence (F-2) and permanent residence (F-5) have their own requirements; ask 1345 before planning around them.
